David attended Carleton College in Minnesota for his B.A., Union Theological Seminary in NYC for his M.Div., and Luther Seminary in St. Paul for his D. Min. David worked in a law firm, as a fundraiser, as a hospital chaplain, and served churches in Minnesota, Texas, and New Jersey, and served at First UMC Westfield for seven years before being appointed to the Neshanic and Sergeantsville churches in July, 2018. He believes that our identity as Christians shapes how we live as neighbors. David is married to Nancy Duff, an ordained Presbyterian and professor of theological ethics at Princeton Theological Seminary. They have two adult children, McKinley and Adam.
Marissa van der Valk
Marissa has served on the staff at Bishop Janes UMC for 4 years in the capacity of youth director, office manager, and communications director, before being appointed to the Neshanic and Sergeantsville churches in July, 2018. Marissa was born and raised in California moving to New Jersey 5 years ago. She holds degrees in Biological Sciences and Computer Information System from California Lutheran University. She is currently completing her master of divinity at Drew Theological School with an anticipated completion date of May 2019. Marissa is passionate about mission and helping congregations connect with their communities.
